Sofiy is a second-year MA student in the General Psychology program pursuing a concentration in Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Counseling. Her research interests include embodied experiences of communication, the medical weight loss industry, body image, weight stigma, and gendered experiences of pain. Before coming to the New School for Social Research, Sofiy worked as a teacher in Boston, Chicago, and New York in both general and special education.
